Hello friends and fellow travelers:

It's fall – officially back to school time!  These past weeks it seems as if the world around me has been a bit crazy: the presidential campaign (which seems more polarized than I have seen before); the war; the economy; and, as if that were not enough, last week Pluto went direct, forming difficult aspects with Mars and this week with the Sun added to the mix.  What does that mean?  Conflict, terrorism and war.  If you are interested in learning more about astrology, there are some resources on the Web.  My long time friend and astrologer, Barbara Shere, has a web site: www.astrotalk.com.  She has a wonderful spiritual perspective that I deeply honor.  A site local to Washington state is stariq.com.

While the rest of the world seems to grow in intensity, I have been learning at a rapid rate.  As I examine my beliefs, my experiences, and my feelings, I am most grateful for the people in my life.  There have been wonderful gifts of loving connection with friends new and old.  And I cannot forget my animal friends and those who dwell in Spirit.  They have been exceedingly patient with me.  My healing work has taken me into new territories.

I had the opportunity to travel with friends to Neah Bay, out on the Northwestern most tip of the continent.  We talked to many of the people of the Makah tribe, who live out there.  They were preparing for Makah Days, when many hundreds of people flood their small town for a few days.  Yet without exception ever person with whom we had contact was warm and friendly.  One young woman had a sign that she was selling baskets from her home, and we stopped – just as her family was heading out the door for dress rehearsal for the dancing demonstrations.  Yet the whole family, young ones included, were welcoming and generous with their time.  And, by the way, if you ever go to Neah Bay, look for the wonderful cedar baskets!

We went to renew our selves and recharge our batteries at the ocean, and we certainly came away refreshed and renewed.  And once we went to Cape Flattery, the tip of the Olympic Peninsula, and the westernmost point of the Continental United States.  I recommend this to anyone who is able to make the mile and a half walk.  We feasted on Salal berries – one of the abundant fruits and a native staples in this area – and felt the enormous power of the ocean.  At that place the rock cliff has been undercut, creating "sieges," long narrow caves under the cliffs into the rock.  I stood in awe of the power and beauty of Nature, and of her gifts to us.

The contrast between the world in which I live, where joy is prevalent, healing is the byword and Spirit grows within us, and the world of war and terror and chaos, stretches me.  Do you feel the same?  I do the work I do because it has assisted me and taught me of the world of Spirit and Nature: flower and crystal essences; drumming; shamanic and energetic healing; communicating with plant devas and with animals.

If this interests you, consider giving yourself the gift of learning this fall.  I am teaching a number of classes:  drum and rattle making (in Bellingham and Olympia - not yet scheduled) and one on flower and crystal essences.  NEW THIS MONTH: You can pay by credit card for services: healing, animal communication and classes!  Just visit my web site and click on the page for the service you want – www.dragonflyessence.com.  OR Send me an email and I will reply with a PayPal button you can use to pay for the service you would like.
